Unite consults on industrial action over pay

05-Sep-08

Unite members are being asked what type of industrial action they are prepare to take to protest at their latest pay deal.

Ministers recently imposed a three-year, 7.99 per cent pay rise which Unite leaders claim is ‘derisory’ and below-inflation.

A series of meetings with members will be held across the UK this month to canvass opinion. Using the feedback, the union will prepare a ballot containing a menu of strike options.

Unite has also prepared a national petition for both its members and for the general public which will be presented to Downing Street later in the year.
