The union will ballot members later this month on whether they are prepared to take industrial action, including strikes. If members are in favour, actions would begin within 28 days of the ballot closing on 12 November.
Ninety-five per cent of Unite members rejected the DoH's pay deal, worth just under 8 per cent over three years, and 75 per cent voted in favour of a ballot on industrial action.
Unite's national officer for health, Dave Fleming said: 'We are confident of a decisive 'Yes' vote for industrial action in protest at the government's derisory pay offer.'
